The Asus has a wonderful display, is fairly fast, and has good battery life. Didn't like the screen. Excellent product, perfect for surfing and checking e-mail. I originally purchased a Dell netbook and returned it.
It has a bright, clear screen, making it easy to see. It's a very beautiful and useful computer. My 14 year old son wanted this netbook, and he loves it. It's shiny black and sparkly, and came with a carry case. "Hey Ben, how do you like your new netbook." "I like it a whole lot." There you have it. He uses it for e-mail, internet, music, and with school starting soon he'll use it even more. It's fast and handy because it's small.
Called back, another 15-20 minute wait, rep says to return laptop, AT MY EXPENSE, for repairs and, while talking to rep, phone line goes down. I will also pursue this matter with the retailer that sold me this piece of garbage, and if the problem is not fixed, FREE OF CHARGE, and if I do not get an assurance that the 2 year warranty will be fully honored, I will then take legal action. Called customer support, after 20 minute wait they suggest upgrading the audio driver which I did.
She tells me that even if I wanted to pay for shipping to send them my laptop to have it fixed, I can't, because, according to the serial #, the laptop was purchased in EUROPE. Do yourself a favor and stick with Dell when it comes to laptops. She promised to check if the info in her system is correct and get back to me within 24 hours (if the info in her system IS correct, I guess that means I must have taken an astral trip to Europe and purchased a laptop).
I Didn't buy from Amazon but from Bureau en Gros (Staples) in Montreal less than 6 months ago, but this is what happened: speakers started to malfunction. Call # 4, similar wait time, finally reach same supervisor, says she was just about to call me back (yeah right). ASUS., never again.
Reboot PC, it now squeals like a smoke detector. Called back, 15-20 minutes again, asked for a supervisor, says she will look at my file and, you guessed it, phone goes dead.
They advertize as 5 hours. This netbook is very portable. I got used to it. The keyboard is small but over time. I can bring it to anywhere I want to search for information and check e-mails. The battery lasts for about 4 hours.
Even with tax, it was a better price. This is a great little second computer to travel with, but they're kidding about the prices on here, right. I just bought the exact same model at a local big box store for 219.00.
